SPECIALIST, CAMP CHEF

The Camp Chef is responsible for preparing and serving all personnel in camp during exercises and deployments. The Chef reports directly to the Logistics Chief. This individual must meet all the general requirements for members of CANTF2 (refer to General Requirements section).

The duties of the Camp Chef are:

  • Responsible for all equipment and supplies dealing with food preparation and storage;
  • Responsible for maintenance of all equipment associated with food preparation;
  • Responsible for the determination of the logistical needs of the whole team, as it relates to food and food preparation;
  • With the help of the Logistics Chief, responsible for securing additional non-cacheable items as it relates to food:
  • Responsible for the setup and take down of CANTF2 kitchen and mess hall;
  • Ability to work closely with the Rear Party Team in organizing the teams needs;
  • Responsible for the security and accountability of all components of the kitchen and mess;
  • Performs additional tasks or duties as assigned for the duration of the incident.

Skills Required

  • Previous experience in managing a kitchen inclusive of supply ordering;
  • Experience in catering or large number food preparation;
  • Ability to work within a group under the incident command structure;
  • Must have sufficient skills to develop a written or verbal report;
  • Must be able to deploy by ground or air (fixed and rotary wing).
  • Certification related to public health and kitchen hygiene.

Skills Desired

  • Valid Red Seal Qualification
  • Previous experience as a camp cook.
  • Previous food preparation experience in emergency response or military;
  • Official Training in Incident command ( ICS 100, ICS 200 etc..)
