LOGISTICS CHIEF
The Logistics Chief is responsible for supervising all Logistics and Communications Specialists of the team during incident operations and training. The Logistics Chief reports to the Task Force Leader. This individual must meet all general requirements for members of CANTF2 (refer to General Requirements section).
The duties of the Logistics Chief are:
- Establish appropriate liaison with other internal agencies/organizations and officials throughout the incident site;
- Work with Planning Chief to develop the logistical and communications plan;
- Coordination of encampment, inclusive but not limited to hoteling, sanitation, power, heat, lighting and communications;
- Responsible for the cache, and its maintenance, tracking, deployment/demobilization;
- Directly supervise logistics personnel and ensure adherence to all safety procedures;
- Responsible for the determination of logistical needs for the whole team, as it relates to encampment, sanitation, communications, and food;
- Ability to work closely with the rear party team in addressing team's needs;
- Receive briefing and situation reports, and ensure the Planning Chief is informed;
- Provide situation reports, maintain records and reports, and prepare performance evaluations;
- Performing additional tasks or duties as assigned
Skills Required
- Knowledge and understanding of basic construction types, materials and methods;
- Ability to manage a group of individuals within the incident command structure;
- Must have sufficient skills to develop a written or verbal report on the search team's progress or outcome;
- Must be able to deploy by ground or air (fixed and rotary wing);
- Performs additional tasks or duties, as assigned, for the duration of the incident.
Skills Desired
- Official training in Incident Command System (ICS 100, ICS 200 etc..);
- NFPA or equivalent training in any of the following courses:
- Confined Space Rescue
- Structural Collapse
- Rope Rescue
- Swift Water Rescue
- Trench Rescue
- Fire Officer
- Safety Officer
- Critical Incident Stress
- Hazardous Material Training;
- Previous experience in the use of a SCBA/SABA;
- Previous management experience in emergency response or military;
- Previous experience as a project planner, load master, logistics person
